About this artwork
Casper Verborg starts most of his recent paintings with an abstract and expressive background, painted with bright and vibrant colors. He uses a brought variety of resources such as rags, sponges, palette knives, pieces of cardboard and his hands (don’t worry, he uses gloves). With this explicitly present yet abstract and thus more universal background, the images contains notions of a cloudburst and waves of the sea.
Amidst these waves of color… a human figure arises, as anonymous as he/ she are recognizable. Transcending the individual, they do not stand for themselves but humanity. He is caught in a world that looks like that irresistible piece of candy that is actually of chemical substance, marching towards a colorful and toxic apocalypse.
