Transitions occur throughout life and are often visible in nature. This oil painting captures a moment by water where the seasonal transition from summer to fall has begun to occur. The boat slip and dock represent another transition moving from land to water where one might travel further along and by different means.
Fall is one of the artists favorite times of year. It's a time of rapid transition and change where a landscape of green becomes… a palette of hues that are intoxicating. This location was of interest to the artist due to the combination of elements that for her signified transitions. The visual archway created by the barren branches and colorful foliage provided a natural framework for the composition; inviting the viewer to walk into the scene to investigate further what might lie ahead.
