About this artwork
When traveling around Myanmar a few years ago I notice every open air market in every town would have one shop that was packed with gaudy mass produced toys. They seemed more a home on the shelves of an American outlet store than in a traditional Southeast Asian market. I began to think of these things as kind of vortex that could instantly transport local people to another world very different than the one they were in.
