« “I am driven by an insatiable need to explore different techniques and ways of portraying the forest and nature. Even though I live in a rural area of Swedish Lapland, I can never get close enough to nature.” »
Charlotte Eder lives and grew up in a small community in Swedish Lapland, in a family where art, culture and politics was important. Her father Josef was a skilled artist so starting to paint was therefore a natural step and she has been an artist for over twenty years.
Her drive is to constantly learn something new and to mix different mediums in different ways. She has developed a unique technique colorizing photographies by hand which provides a three-dimensional experience and a lot of additional mystery.
Her paintings are rich in colour and detail, darkness and light. She often mentions her constant longing for nature and how she tries to get as close to the subject as possible during the creative process. This longing creates a special expression in her paintings that usually have touch of impressionism and surrealism. Because of traumatic experiences in her past she turned unable to paint faces and human bodies. So100% nature!
Over the years Charlotte has had a large number of solo exhibitions in Finland and Sweden and is represented by a couple of international and Swedish online galleries. 2024 was fully booked with seven exhibitions and 2025 will be just as busy.
