I love skies, clouds, and amazing light and reflection.
In this painting, I explore the beauty and intensity of nature through dramatic oil, acrylic, and mixed media. In their Nature’s Fury Storm series, I use strong values and an earthy color palette to create landscapes filled with dark clouds swirling together into distant and powerful storms. As the severe weather overtakes the atmosphere, the clouds seem to take on a life of their own.

Cheryl Johnson is an established American painter with national exposure. Her work is inspired by world travels as well as the landscape and cultures of her homes in North Carolina, Hawaii and her Idaho birthplace. Additionally, as a strong environmental awareness advocate, her canvases are often inspired by nature and resonate with a deftly modulated palette of translucent and opaque colors. Light hues bleed into darks with a sense of expressive, fluid movement and reflect the harmony and tenacity of the natural world.
