About this artwork
The choice of the title "Aima" can have several connotations:
• it is the simple past tense of the verb to love in the third person singular,
• it means “blood” in Greek, and can be interpreted as the life force that animates the work.
• it also refers to Emmanuelle, a French erotic film directed by Just Jaeckin in 1974.
Thus, on the canvas, the feminine principle represented by the armchair on the left and the masculine principle represented… by the fig tree with drooping branches that partly cover the armchair coexist. The red star is a symbol of life (blood) and passion, the ephemeral side of which can be translated by the presence of butterflies.
This work immerses us in a sensory and symbolic universe. It can be an invitation to explore the multiple facets of our existence. It is also a tribute to life, which embodies freedom, love, and sensuality, and reminds us of our connection with nature.
