The surface of this piece came from the building site where I was helping my Dad. What I liked most about it was the wording of 'aggregate', the name of the building merchants from where the product came from, and other wording that described its purpose as a bag of aggregate. I worked with the negative side of the bag to give it an… unfamiliar look. I was developing my mark making through chance processes. The acrylic displays marks that are in unity and others that are chaotic.
I used an industrial gloss / resin to hold each material and supply in place. A varnish spray was included after as this helps to preserve and strengthen fragile areas, and provides a slick look to the composition.

Chris Horner is a painter and sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been widely exhibited in England. As an artist, his main concern is challenging people to see the possibilities in beauty through pre-used building materials where others see functionality. Each artwork is structured around acute, careful methods that have been adopted from the building site. Each method is mixed with artistic processes that are free flowing and quite chaotic, but at the same time carefully planned. Chris was elected by The London Group Membership Committee to become a member in 2020, and his works have been collected in various private collections.
