ARTWORK NARRATIVE:
The state or fact of lasting for only a limited period of time. An inescapable, and essentially painful, fact of life as it relates to our mortality. The Dalai Lama wrote, "Awareness of impermanence and appreciation of our human potential will give us a sense of urgency that we must use every precious moment." An inexplicable miracle of life is the reflective sphere which we grasp for. Clinging on as if the harder we hold on somehow,… we temporarily escape our self perceived demise.

Chris Itsell is a talented American sculptor who has exhibited his work nationally. Influenced by the vibrant color spectrum of the American Southwest he grew up around, he constructs sculptures with fluid lines and an almost limitless perspective. Combining metals alongside glass, concrete, stone and wood, his works showcase unexpected transformations of medium, shape, aesthetic and perspective.
