About this artwork
Looking north from the old port at Sunderland Point along the causeway. This small track is the only way in or out of the small port and is covered by the estuary twice a day making this the only inaccessible place on the English mainland. This painting captures the heavy grey sky's and the ever changing dynamic landscape of the area.

Chris Macauley believes that a painting should work on a purely visual and descriptive level. The UK-based artist’s painterly and abstract works portray landscapes, as well as the figurative. When creating, Macauley tries to balance control with accidents. He isn’t interested in the realistic copying of his subject matter. Instead, and through color, his compositions radiate an ‘inner glow’.
