About this artwork
the subject is a young girl (the artists daughter) and the dog. Translating the movement of the water into a painterly language along with the semi transparent quality of the water (river Teign) around the girl and the dog in the warm evening light is the key to this painting.

Chris Macauley believes that a painting should work on a purely visual and descriptive level. The UK-based artist’s painterly and abstract works portray landscapes, as well as the figurative. When creating, Macauley tries to balance control with accidents. He isn’t interested in the realistic copying of his subject matter. Instead, and through color, his compositions radiate an ‘inner glow’.
