About this artwork
Minotaur is the first in a series of sculptures called Chasing Picasso's Ghost. This was inspired by the mystical Minotaur, Picasso's works, the bold evolution of his paintings, and a small-scale series of compositions I was working on. three-dimensional, the first four pieces in this series were somewhat flat. With this piece, I imagined a garden setting or, better yet, a Labyrinth, as well as a more dimensional take.

Chris Plaisted is an American painter and sculptor whose works have been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions in the United States. He draws inspiration from people, places, bridges, ships, and architecture, as well as mythological and historical elements. His pieces are primarily abstract, yet often include figurative traces. Plaisted sculpts using welded steel with copper, wood, concrete, and other metals. His painterly compositions are made using acrylics and collage on canvas.
