About this artwork
Hutong - Beijing
Collage from old paper with drawing.
The drawings are based on photos I took during one of my trips to China. The hutongs are the old quarters in Beijing where people still live in the traditional courtyard houses. Over time, the neighborhoods that are usually not in the best condition have become increasingly popular and have become a desirable residential area. In some corners the traditional charm and the collaged architecture… is still well preserved. Life takes place on the streets and the flat one-story courtyard houses make you forget the big city.
Framed in vintage frame.

Chrisse Kunst works primarily with ink and has a background in architecture, which strongly influences his work. With clear lines and experimental elements, he creates fascinating, often deserted architectural landscapes that offer space for silence and reflection.
