About this artwork
With this picture I tried to make it look like behind glass. Due to the medium epoxy resin with which I sealed the picture, it also looks like a glass painting.
A dance-like balancing act between color, shape and line, surface and space, abstraction and object, image and writing. It is lightness that jumps towards us in Lohrig's works. The colors applied with pleasure are often revised several times; the traces of the lower layers always remain… perceptible. She works with spray paints, neon, pink.
Luminous images are created. Color is a barometer of the mood.
Impressions, perceptions, experiences are implemented in a very individual visual language. Always looking for stories, objects. A collector of ludicrous situations; always in the thick of it, curious but reserved. An observer of daily life, of nature.
Ready to look behind the facade - rebelling against a one-dimensional way of thinking.
« The impressions, experiences and situations that have fueled me life, that's what I capture in my pictures. »
Christiane Lohrig is a dedicated German painter whose works have been exhibited throughout France, Germany and Luxembourg. With a preference for abstract painting, she experiments with a range of materials including wallpaper, strips of which she tears on and off and reworks with oil and spray paint. Lohrig translates anecdotes and clichés into her own visual language, using colours, shapes and lines to make her canvases dance with images, objects and text.
