About this artwork
“Vivacity” is my tribute to the bold and playful spirit of the parrot tulip. I was captivated by the way its curling petals twist and move, carrying a natural energy that feels almost alive. In this piece, I allowed vibrant reds, oranges, yellows, and fresh greens to flow together in sweeping shapes, capturing the joy and spontaneity that nature often reveals in its details.
Against my signature black background, the colors glow with intensity,… giving the tulip a dramatic presence as if it’s unfolding in motion. I wanted this bloom to feel confident, expressive, and full of life, a reminder of the small bursts of joy we find in nature’s unexpected rhythms.
“Vivacity” later received an Honorable Mention, a recognition that felt meaningful to me because it affirmed the uplifting energy and lively spirit I hoped this painting would share.
