About this artwork
The socialist brotherly kiss was a greeting ritual and an expression of the solidarity between powerful men. The famous mural depicting the kiss between Erich Honecker and Leonid Brezhnev is a symbol of hunger for power. No trace of love.
I grew up with the “Iron Curtain” and television images of power-hungry men.
Despite the Wall and the Cold War, my childhood and youth were carefree years.
They were pleasantly empty days. No busy schedule. I… watched the sky, the clouds, the birds, the trees and lost myself in dreams.
This collage reflects the daydreams of my childhood.
The background is acrylic paint on cardboard.
The material for the collage is cut out of newspapers and my own acrylic paintings.
