Colmar, the medieval town in Alsace, a moment of transcendence.
French flair, just a moment in the stream of tourists from all over the world. The old buildings are blood red, bay windows, half-timbering, carved doors and shutters. For me it is a glimpse into the heart of the city, unreal and supernatural, like a waking dream.
Semi-oil base on jute and egg tempera primer, then white highlights and resin oil glazes. This enables this transparency… and differentiation of the coloring with the most precise drawing.
