About this artwork
Synthetic wax, oil paint, iron particles, rust, copper particles, copper patina and lacquer
62x26x14 cm
2016 - 2025
The oil paint is incorporated into the special liquid wax directly during the molding process. A subsequent coating of the robust wax body with iron and copper particles develops a natural rust and copper patina over time. Under very high heat exposure—the synthetic wax only melts at temperatures… above 210 degrees Celsius—the rust and copper patina begin to melt, revealing the underlying wax body. The final seal with acrylic varnish stops further oxidation and permanently preserves the traces of time and the violence of the heat.
This work is the second of three sculptures that began in winter 2016 and will be completed in summer 2025.

« My rather unconventional technique arises from the intention to let the change of the material to the work flow freely. »
The free use of one's own resources is the fundamental creative disposition in Robausch's work.
His techniques and use of materials are also peculiar.
Standing outside the traditional art world, Robausch goes and thinks in an open and unsupported way.
Sculptures, wall objects and relief-like panel paintings are created entirely from within the individual.
Robausch also likes to rework his own works from earlier times, deforming and retuning them.
The translation of the mood of his physical works into digital, animated works sometimes seems strangely alien.
Currently, his original, very material-oriented working method is unfolding again with the "Future Origin" series.
The unpredictable immediacy seems to shine through these enigmatic, relief-like panel paintings.
