Fen Dyke is a small realist oil painting on a 10 x 8” deep-edge, cradled gesso board.
A landscape depicting a narrow, straight waterway running centrally up between grassy banks until disappearing into a fog on the horizon, is a striking but simple and highly detailed composition. This is the Fenland landscape that surrounds the artist's home and which he has explored, photographed and painted for over thirty years.
Christopher Witchall’s unsentimental… approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.

Christopher Witchall is an artist based in the United Kingdom whose paintings have been featured in both solo and group exhibitions nationally.
