Summer Trees is a small realist oil painting on gesso panel 8 x10” (approximately 20 x 25cm).
The painting was inspired by the Fenland landscape that surrounds the artist's home and which he has explored, photographed and painted for over thirty years.
Christopher Witchall’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this… are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Summer Trees is painted on a deep edge cradled panel, so there is no need for framing. It is signed on the back and is supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Christopher Witchall is an artist based in the United Kingdom whose paintings have been featured in both solo and group exhibitions nationally. He describes his art as being "how the world appears" without embellishment. Witchall eschews the picturesque of the every day, the overlooked, and mundane, and searches for beauty within the most minute of details. His realistic landscapes, seascapes, as well as urban and suburban landscapes are painted using oils on canvas or synthetic board.
