Inspired by walks along the English South coast, Christopher Witchall continues his preoccupation with the movement and colours of the ocean, a movement frozen in time between the ancient past and an endless future.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic… image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.

Christopher Witchall is an artist based in the United Kingdom whose paintings have been featured in both solo and group exhibitions nationally. Witchall eschews the picturesque of the every day, the overlooked, and mundane, and searches for beauty within the most minute of details.
