About this artwork
Mars Hill, North Carolina is where Hipsher's father was born. His momma was Cherokee and lived in a log cabin near the French Broad river. He remembers her franklin stove and cinnamon toast and waving goodbye as they drove off to Council Bluffs, Iowa in the spring of 1965. She passed a few months later.
