About this artwork
In my work, I chose to represent garlic, a symbol of protection and purification in old popular beliefs. Through the use of acrylics, I explored the natural and delicate nuances of the bulbs, contrasting them with a dark background that enhances their shape and volume. This canvas, imbued with realism and impressionistic touches, captures not only the physical essence of garlic but also the purifying energy it can bring to the home environment. With… each brushstroke, I sought to convey a sense of ruggedness and earthly beauty, hoping to invoke a feeling of calming familiarity and ancient wisdom.
Cinzia Beretta, an Italian artist living near Lake Como, specializes in acrylic on canvas after training at the Milan art school and studies in interior architecture. He adopts techniques that evoke impressionism, ranging between still lifes, animals and landscapes, and is inspired by the work of masters such as Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh and Hopper. With every brushstroke in his works, Beretta expresses his vision of the world, coloring the canvas with emotion.
"I always do what I don't know how to do, to learn how it should be done." (Vincent Van Gogh)
