About this artwork
Claire Romain works on the ground and, using a technique developed by Jackson Pollock, pours pigments and paint directly onto the canvas. His style is however different from Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman or Franz Kline. In this series of paintings produced in New York, the painting spreads out in pools of color forming shapes and spots of color. It is not a question of adding layers on the canvas but that the color becomes one with the canvas.…
