About this artwork
In this work, I explore the tonal richness and overlapping forms in the botanical world. My main interest was working with the extreme contrast between a deep, dark background and the luminosity of the leaves in the foreground, whose reddish patches create a vibrant warmth in the composition.
Through a careful handling of washes, I sought to capture the velvety texture of the leaves. It is a work in which I invite the viewer to observe the density… of nature, where each leaf competes for light and prominence in the image.
