About this artwork
Still but full of dynamism, the work tells a story of courage and determination. Like a high-altitude tree that grows towards the sky, the climber lives and "exists" only tied to the rope, hanging on the wall, suspended in an eternal moment of challenge, with his gaze turned towards the immensity. Every light that hits the sculpture creates plays of shadows and contrasts, emphasizing the depth and complexity of his body, in full contrast with the…
surrounding void. Suspended in nothingness almost as if he were about to detach himself from the wall to continue his ascent, or fall ruinously. He searches for his goal, but does not tell anyone his ambitions and fears, he keeps them to himself. We can only look at him and imagine. Those who love the mountains will not remain indifferent to this act of climbing.

Credentials
- Works on commission
CLAU RIILIEVO began as a sculptor in the United States, creating commissioned works suspended between heaven and earth, and specializing in the use of emptiness as an element of characterization of the work. CLAU creates sculptures that represent figures of audacity and determination, or abstractions left "suspended" in the void. He treats wood by hardening it through the use of a particular and personal technique, created and perfected over time. Almost always equipped with ropes, his works appear suspended in the void, emanate courage and arouse curiosity; they tell silent stories of ambitions and hidden fears. CLAU's works, of immediate impact, challenge the void, becoming bearers of vibrant emotions through a journey into introspection. After decades of commissioned work, since 2024 CLAU has opened his business to the general public, with works of his own free conception.
