About this artwork
While I was working, I noticed a kind of movement in the picture. It reminds me of a kickboxer. At the top right of the picture, in the brown spot, the words "Strong Woman" shimmer through. This is how the title of the picture came about. I want to harmonize form, color, content and composition in the picture and emphasize a lightness.
Claus-Christian Vogel writes about this picture: Who is who on "Strong Woman and Kickboxing", 2024? The picture… is moving towards the right. There is the pink figure, she is probably being attacked. When her limit is crossed, she says stop with her foot, as the title says, but otherwise does not "step" into any relation to the impetuous, excessive or aggressive energy. Here too, the tea towel motif, this time in the lower part of the picture, where since the Renaissance one would expect lines to converge in the depth of the room. There is no vanishing point here. Here, everything stands still. Self-assertion of the once weaker sex.
Claudette Griffiths, a trained painter and sculptor, uses collage/mixed media, acrylic and egg tempera. Through her playful use of colors and shapes, she creates works that find a balance between intuition and chance. Based on the emotional impressions that shape her encounters with people, Claudette constructs complex soul landscapes that range from feelings of happiness to insecurity. Her works invite the viewer to weave their own associations and discover personal messages.
