About this artwork
Oh, you beautiful autumn,
How to turn leaves golden,
Your pure air, so clear and still,
I want to be happy again.
These lines from the poem "Autumn" by Theodor Fontane inspired me to create this picture.
Autumn in all its colorful splendor, the unmistakable scent of damp earth, and the pleasure of crunching through the leaves on an autumn walk. How wonderful it is to linger outdoors in autumn when the world is ablaze with wonderful colors.… It's a welcome respite from our hectic world.
For this image, I scanned and digitally edited one of my watercolors. My choice of colors reflects the intensity of autumn hues while simultaneously alluding to the approaching winter through the cooler blue-green tones. The mist and sunlight soften the outlines.
