About this artwork
The sunflower's blossoms radiate light towards the sun. Therefore, it symbolizes joy, warmth, and happiness.
The sunflower is one of my favorite motifs in art. I enjoy depicting it again and again using a wide variety of media. This time, I used Derwent soft pencils and pastels on watercolor paper. My intention to portray the sunflower powerfully this time was achieved through the vibrant, energetic background. This energy of the image is then transferred… to its surroundings.
