About this artwork
Riflessi takes us through the mighty walls of a mountain landscape, evoking with rhythmic signs and material textures the rough, stratified and vertical aspect of rocky mountains. The engraved lines, at times clear and regular, at times freer and more fluid, seem to sculpt on the canvas a chain of sharp, jagged peaks, which rise with grandeur and mystery.
The warm tones of the earth – reds, ochres, browns – blend with cold shades of purple, white… and pale pink, like reflections of light at dawn or dusk on the rocky walls. Each pictorial element contributes to building a sort of visual geology, in which the pictorial material becomes rock, crest, slope, calling everything into question: what appears familiar can change into abstraction, into rhythm, into pure visual emotion.
A work that speaks of nature through the filter of memory and imagination, where the geometric order is only an illusion between the lines of the landscape.
