About this artwork
While still moving in a wide range between figuration and abstraction, this painting eventually began to hint at a classical motif. The work on this continued again and again through small steps over a period of several months.
« All art is just transformation within the boundaries of self-referentiality. »
Claudio Scotoni is an artist based in Switzerland whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and in Germany. He describes his artistic process as originating from the "first movement", which is a reflex and can oftentimes be a fight for spontaneity. For Scotoni, this movement can be born as a result of a phrase or of an impression that tempts him into translating it into something visible. In his art, the starting point is much more important than the process.
