About this artwork
I fell asleep in the darkness, surrounded by smoky shadows, and I rose again smiling in a sea of colors.
The abstract painting measures 50 x 50 cm and dates from 2025. It was created with mixed media, acrylic, oil, and varnish.
In my abstract works, color tone plays a central role. I try not just to see the colors, but to experience them intensely. The summer of 2014 died on the island of Rügen when a massive thunderstorm ended the hot weather… on August 26. Bare-chested, I danced in the rain until the torrential downpour drove me indoors. At the panoramic window, I observed the color battle between summer and autumn.
My emotions and state of mind find expression in my paintings, which thereby acquire a special depth and meaning.

Conny Gabora completed his art studies at the Kolbermoor Academy as a master student of Professor Markus Lüpertz. He is a passionate painter and draftsman. He works with a figurative-abstract aesthetic, creating flowing acrylic surfaces and incorporating drawings into them. His works reflect a bold expression of utopia and rebellion against oppressive social realities and illustrate his desire to foreground a 'Pling, pling, superding world.'
