About this artwork
The large-format black and white composition unfolds its effect through contrast, movement, and dimension.
The impulsive structures coalesce into a visual field of tension between stillness, dynamism, and depth. The lower section, in particular, creates a calmer surface, lending the work balance and spaciousness.
With its format of 245 × 145 cm, the perception changes constantly depending on distance, light and space.
The artist Conny Wachsmann… is particularly known for large-format works that only unfold their full effect in space.
« You don't choose a picture. A picture will find you! »
Conny Wachsmann's painting is characterized by a profoundly organic and intuitive creative process. In her studio in Lower Saxony, she creates abstract works that focus on the tactile unfolding of color and form. Instead of following rigid concepts, she allows herself to be guided by the dynamics of the painting process, giving each picture an authentic, emotional depth.
A striking feature of her work is its relief-like structure. Through the use of spatula techniques and layering, she creates surfaces that capture light and lend the works an almost living presence. With over 16 years of experience, including a continuous long-term exhibition in public institutions, she has developed a distinctive style.
