"While Life Rushes On" is a monumental testament to conscious contemplation. In this large-format, unique piece, Conny Wachsmann uses deep layers of Prussian blue and ultramarine to create an atmospheric space. The horizontal, almost rhythmic black brushstrokes capture the "rustling" of time—a movement reminiscent of the view from a moving train.
The story & symbolism:
Amidst this deep blue panorama, the artist deliberately sets anchor points.… A soft point of light on the left represents the viewer's presence – the "I" in the here and now. Two striking, bright lines break up the dynamic flow and mark the major stages of life: the raising of children, a passion project, or a new beginning.
