“For Corinne Malfreyt, drawing inspiration from Pina Bausch’s choreography of Igor Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring,” the space between bodies is still dance. On her canvases, she establishes an architecture of rhythms… and chromatic nuances, a range of grays sometimes punctuated by resonant reds, where the dancers’ momentum seeks and finds its place. A correspondence between background and form, to render the felt emotion, the colored matter, within the suggested limits of the drawing, dances, throbs, and vibrates in harmonic cadences, in fragile balances, the very moment of composition. (...)”

Corinne Malfreyt is an award-winning French artist who has exhibited her works nationally, as well as in China, Kuwait, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The major theme in her paintings is dance, as a symbol of movement. Another phase of Malfreyt's compositions relates to movement that is frozen in memories, reminiscences, and retinal persistence. In her creative process, she allows herself to be guided by varying thicknesses of sand, finishing with oils and emphasizing the rhythms of intervals between characters.
