A quiet moment between remembering and forgetting.
In Shadows of Farewell we encounter the silhouette of a person in the twilight – alone under an old street lamp.
The light falls dimly, the air seems heavy with transience.
Sometimes only a shadow remains, even when we have long since moved on.
Do you know that feeling when something is over but the shadow still remains?
Cornelia Hauch works with natural materials such as earth, ash, and oil,… which she applies in fine layers. This creates a deeply structured surface in which time and emotion are deposited like sediment.
The work tells of farewell, of silence and of what remains when words have long since faded away.
