About this artwork
I would like to demonstrate my working method using the picture "In the Forest". The picture was commissioned and was supposed to contain landscape elements. The size of the canvas was specified. I chose a situation from a novel by Italo Calvino "The Baron in the Trees", which shows a young man in a tree reading Voltaire to ladies. The right side shows a situation from the fairy tale "The Gooseherd".
I am often inspired to create a picture by books… and the landscape of Mecklenburg with its many forests and lakes. I try to capture the light and convey the mood.
