If — as far as we currently know — intelligent life exists only here, then Earth becomes extraordinarily rare. Not just geologically unique, but cosmically precious. In a universe of billions of galaxies, this small blue planet may be the only place (so far) where the universe has become aware of itself. That alone can inspire a sense of reverence.
Many Indigenous traditions… have long held this view: land is not property but relationship. Mountains, rivers, and forests are treated as living presences, not resources. Modern science, in a different language, also reveals how fragile and interconnected our biosphere is. Both perspectives can lead to the same conclusion: this place matters.
