About this artwork
In this piece, I merged realism with surreal symbolism to explore decay and renewal. The apple core, suspended like a relic, reflects life's fleeting nature framed against a stark, textured sky. Using acrylic and oil, I layered emotions of vulnerability and resilience, inviting viewers to feel both the weight of loss and the hope beneath the surface. Imagine this energy stirring quiet reflection wherever it hangs.

Damian Ebejer is a prolific and highly versatile artist. His artistic development literally saved his life as it rescued him from a turbulent early adulthood. His creativity helped him start life anew. With his works he explores a vast spectrum of possibilities and uses his creativity to search new artistic boundaries. His approach ranges from abstract expressionism to realism. His work often blends complex, entangled forms and vibrant colour harmonies to discover order within chaos. Damian’s work is a deeply introspective journey, aiming to evoke profound beauty and personal fulfilment beyond external reality, reflecting a quest for self-discovery and emotional resonance. He has held 20 solo exhibitions since 1994. Butterfly, his latest solo was held in December 2025. He is now working on new approaches towards his paintings whilst remaining unattached to repetitive concepts. Damian is also a commissioned muralist and has published two books of his own poetry.
