About this artwork
This painting combines multiple views from place sacred to me, while walking in the Winter near my studio. The title comes from an essay by Henry David Thoreau, in which a describes a one day wander in the winter landscape. In this group of paintings I will often use multiple horizon lines, inspired or in common with Asian scroll paintings that long inspired me. their migration, I began a series of painting where the horizon was canted, as if I were a soaring hawk, a vision that had begun to appear in my dreams.

Dan Gottsegen is an experimented American painter who has extensively exhibited throughout the United States.
