About this artwork
In this work "The Breaking Wave," I sought to capture the raw and turbulent essence of the ocean. Using oils for their richness of texture and color, I painted a monumental wave about to break. It is a metaphor for the uncontrollable power of nature, an explosion of the senses, also reflecting intense and often unpredictable human emotions. The dynamic energy of this painting, which allows us to hear the wave's impact on the pier and breathe in the… salty scent of the spray, will add an invigorating presence to any room, inviting contemplation and admiration of natural force.
A self-taught artist with a passion for nature, Schaef uses painting to express his affections. Employing instinctive and spontaneous techniques, he boldly blends vibrant hues to paint maritime and forest scenes, as well as abstract images. Schaef seeks to instill both enthusiasm through the figurative aspects of his works, while distilling a touch of mysticism into his abstract creations.
