About this artwork
The Eldering Chair is about passing time and life. You may see in this painting the chair with signs of use but it's still capable to be a part of interior, because it can hold up a curtain bellowed by the wind. The chair is losing its original shine, but the signs of aging indicate how often it has been used and how much experience it has. My ambition was to find a connection with van Gogh's chair which is seen in bright yellow. But what moved me… much more was Henri Matisse's chair painting from 1919th., because he depicted a chair with a plate of fruit on it what means that the chair can be used as a table - it's very sad, actually, because the chair loses its function. So, my painting is also sad but the chair is still useful and does not replace another piece of furniture, it remains itself. Besides, this painting is also a study of the spatialization of blue turquoise and yellow.
Dan Zyzniewski is a painter with a background in abstraction, poetry, and psychology, deeply influenced by music and dance. He uses expressive, thick oil paints—often applied alla prima and with a spatula—drawing inspiration from XXth century avant-garde, especially abstract expressionism and fauvism. His art is a visualized poem: vibrant, sculptural, and immersed in nature, psyche, and creation itself. His work conveys a profound emotional resonance, inviting viewers to experience the joy and raw energy of existence and creation.
