About this artwork
The piece mixed media was one of my most difficult works, with many details bringing up the rich and exuberant beauty of the Amazon. Its sacred mantle is inhabited by many animals, plants and exotic flowers, precious stones, angels, and many more amazonian elements. A great variety of materials were used, like straw fans for its crown, duly painted with acrylic gold paint and attached as 3D to a wooden pallet that was sanded, painted dark brown…
and waxed golden.
It is super intricate and has a delicate assembly, taking many weeks to execute it perfectly. She is majestic, unique and, with her kindness, protects our planet.
“Sacred Amazonia” was shortlisted for The Royal Arts Prize in February 2020 in London, United Kingdom.
Materials: recycled cardboard, paper, recycled wood frame, double straw crown, acrylic, paper, gold leaf, gold wax, acrylic paint and varnish.
