About this artwork
WORK MADE ON TENSIONED CANVAS, 3-D WOOD CHASSIS ... IN INK..REPRODUCTION TAKES 5 COPIES ..
Nourished by the heritage of constructivism, and opposed to realism, the artists found a new relationship with abstraction, which involves a search for purity and simplification through the use of geometric shapes. Their canvases are characterized by the representation of squares, circles, rectangles, triangles and crosses, as well as by the use of a minimum… of colors. Van Doesburg, founder of the journal de Stijl, confided that abstract art is de facto concrete "because nothing is more concrete, more real than a line, than a color, than a surface".

I believe the strength of the portfolio of artworks presented by Daniel Burgraeve lies in a coherent group of artworks, even if they differ from each other in terms of composition and other aspects. They were all created from a similar visual concept.
Daniel Burgraeve defines these abstract expressionist works as lyrical abstractions. They are all action paintings, created spontaneously, non-figurative, or identifiable by rapid brushstrokes.
If I had to choose a favorite work, I would choose "lyrical abstraction 2": "LYRICAL ABSTRACTION 2".
