About this artwork
Cluster is a study of a concentration of the Blue Morpho butterfly in one solid circle. Its intensity and impact of colour made possible due to the layers upon layers pinned on top of each other. A thick 3D cluster of 700+ individually profile cut butterflies with edges inked, antennae fixed - then pinned to the canvas to create a depth of 90mm. Capturing a scene that evokes life, energy, and disorder.

Daniel Byrne is a painter and sculptor based in the United Kingdom whose works have been exhibited in England. With a lifelong love of nature, coupled with a fascination with Victorian butterfly specimens and framed insect art, his distinctive compositions often depict groups of butterflies and fish in motion. Each of the pieces in Byrne's collages are handmade, which he mounts on paper or synthetic board.
