About this artwork
1975 - 1976 THE ROLLING THUNDER REVUE — Years later, Dylan commented he didn't remember anything about the TRTR, saying it happened so long ago, "I wasn't even born!" It's impossible to get to the "core" of what it was all about because "it's about nothing."
1976 RENALDO & CLARA — Bob's chaotic life is amplified in this self-directed film. Dylan, "I'll tell you what this movie is. It's like life exactly, but not an imitation of it. It has nothing… to do with the breakup of my marriage. My marriage is over. I'm divorced. This film is a film."
1979 - 1981 THE GOSPEL YEARS — On 11.17.1978, in San Diego, somebody threw a silver cross onto the stage. The next night, Bob pulled it out and put it on. "Jesus put his hand on me. It was a physical thing ...I felt it. I felt it all over me. I felt my whole body tremble. The glory of the Lord knocked me down and picked me up." So, he recorded 3 Inspirational albums and quit playing "Like A Rolling Stone" for 79 concerts.

About the series:
WHAT WAS HE (Bob Dylan) THINKING?
In 1964, when Bob Dylan sang these first two lines of
I SHALL BE FREE No.10
"I’m just average, common too,
I’m just like him, the same as you"
I wanted to believe him. But I was not just like him. Besides, I couldn’t sing, let alone play guitar. Sixty-five years later, I’m still listening and often still wonder — What Was HE Thinking?
The SQUARE IMAGE TRIPTYCHS highlight moments within Bob Dylan’s career while simply questioning what he was thinking during those situations. (Special configurations (Your choice of any 3) requests accepted).
The RECTANGULAR IMAGES illustrate a song’s lyrics, literally, the way I heard them the first time, straightforward without concern as to what Bob might have meant. It’s all about the visuals. Some reflect a single line or a single verse, while others include imagery for every verse of a song.
