1997 WORLD EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS — He wasn't Catholic, but still performed for Pope John Paul II and 300,000 young Catholics. Future Pope Francis disapproved. Dylan, "...I don't adhere to rabbis, preachers, evangelists ...I've learned more from the songs than I've learned from any of this kind of entity."
1998 GRAMMY AWARDS — Michael Portnoy, with "Soy Bomb" written across his chest, upstages Bob for 30 seconds. Dylan ignores him, plays a scorching… solo and finishes the song. Soy Bomb was a dud. Nobody cares about it. TIME OUT OF MIND wins the Album of the Year Grammy!
2003 MASKED & ANONYMOUS — A Hollywood, star-studded film with Dylan as a bailed-out-of-jail-rock-legend, to perform a one-man benefit concert — Jack Fate, "I was always a singer and no more than that. Sometimes it's not enough to know the meaning of things. Sometimes we have to know what things don't mean as well. I stopped trying to figure things out a long time ago."

About the series:
WHAT WAS HE (Bob Dylan) THINKING?
In 1964, when Bob Dylan sang these first two lines of
I SHALL BE FREE No.10
"I’m just average, common too,
I’m just like him, the same as you"
I wanted to believe him. But I was not just like him. Besides, I couldn’t sing, let alone play guitar. Sixty-five years later, I’m still listening and often still wonder — What Was HE Thinking?
The SQUARE IMAGE TRIPTYCHS highlight moments within Bob Dylan’s career while simply questioning what he was thinking during those situations. (Special configurations (Your choice of any 3) requests accepted).
The RECTANGULAR IMAGES illustrate a song’s lyrics, literally, the way I heard them the first time, straightforward without concern as to what Bob might have meant. It’s all about the visuals. Some reflect a single line or a single verse, while others include imagery for every verse of a song.
