Why are we “two”? We always irresistibly forget this question. We constantly omit it. There are two sexes. There are therefore two sexual differences (even if for all possible humanity there is only one sexual difference regardless of its sex): the difference that makes the other sex forever mysterious to it from its own sex. That makes four unbearable differences. There is an absolute disparity that no individual curiosity will fully explore. Hence…
an anxiety unsatisfied since the beginning. Such is the separation proper to the enigma that denudation exposes to us, this impossible revelation of what is hidden from the other's otherness.
