About this artwork
It has been interesting to create a series of color variations of a more complicated compositional structure than past work. I get to know the structure more intimately, I can tell what areas are going to cause me trouble beforehand. I thought this painting was complete but soon realized I was dissatisfied with the surface so I lightly sanded the color areas and painted them again. Each area has at least ten layers of paint not counting the layers…
of gesso.

Daniel Deluna is an established American artist who has exhibited his painting, drawing and digital work internationally. Deluna's work has been greatly impacted by his former engagement with digital media, at the same time retaining a connection to the traditional techniques and styles he gained during his classical training at the Pratt institute.
