About this artwork
This work has two sources of inspiration. On the one hand, it was influenced by the endless patterns of woven fabrics. On the other hand, it was inspired by the practice of texture mapping when designing virtual 3D objects. A square image - a texture - is repeatedly and seamlessly joined together and thus extends over the entire object. The texture map was simulated here using a hand-carved stamp. it in the broken application of the texture or in the variably loaded amount of ink that was used per stamp application. This reveals a failure to try to achieve machine perfection. At the same time, something personally human shows itself in the handmade.

Daniel Dwyer, an aspiring artist, has been fascinated by art and media such as comics, picture books and animated films, which primarily use hand-drawn techniques, since his early childhood. This passion is reflected in his current work. Using dynamic lines in ink and watercolor on paper, Dwyer creates silhouettes that gain vitality through accentuated coloring.
