About this artwork
With this bronze piece, I wanted to work on the notion of balance.
I wanted an asymmetrical yet balanced shape. An analogy of our personal search for balance.
Adding an internal mass allows it to be both stable and able to move if given an impulse.
So the room swings for a few minutes, until it regains its balance.
The bronze is polished on all sides with grooving and oxidation work in the hollows on the top side.
This grooving reinforces the… contrast between the curve of the base and the taut line of the top of the sculpture.
